The fee scales as the client’s portfolio grows, and the investment management service includes portfolio construction, ongoing asset allocation, rebalancing, and tax-efficient investing.

Hybrid Model for Clients with Both Planning and Investment Needs

For clients who engage in both financial planning and investment management, you could offer a discounted package combining both fees. For example, if a client opts for comprehensive financial planning and has investable assets under management, you could reduce the total cost by applying a small discount to the AUM fee (e.g., 1% instead of 1.25%).

Example Hybrid Package:

Comprehensive Financial Planning + Investment Management ($750,000 AUM)

  • Financial Planning Fee: $5,000
  • AUM Fee: 1.00% ($7,500 annually)
  • Total: $12,500 annually for both services

One-Time Financial Planning Fee (Optional)

For clients who need one-time advice or a financial plan but don’t want ongoing services, you can offer a one-time financial planning fee.

  • Fee: $1,500 – $3,000
  • Services Included:
    • Comprehensive financial review
    • One-time financial plan with recommendations on investments, retirement, and tax planning
    • No ongoing support unless they choose to re-engage

Add-On Hourly Rate (For Additional Services Outside of Scope)

  • Hourly Rate: $250 – $400/hour
  • Used for extra services like estate planning coordination, tax optimization reviews, or advanced investment consultations.
